Pokemon GO is coming for Apple Watch. There’s no doubt about that. However, what about everything else? What about FitBit? What about Android Wear? Well, those could very well be next. John Hank, CEO of Niantic Labs himself, talked about the possibility of branching to other watch devices.
“Our whole mission as a company is to evangelize this whole concept of playing games outside, real world games […] Apple Watch we think is a great vehicle for that […] As other devices come on the market – if those are Android Wear devices or if they are devices from other quadrants that are interesting for gameplay and mobility, and being active – we’ll look into supporting those, too.”
This is hardly a surprising move. Without and exclusivity contract with Apple, there’s literally no reason to deny support to other devices. The more devices, the better for everyone involved. For example, I have an old TI-84 Graphing Calculator. I would love to play Pokemon GO on that.
