Pokemon Go’s newest event encourages players to go outside and catch rock-type Pokemon. This event, dubbed “Adventure Week”, makes rock Pokemon more common, including rares such as Kabuto, Omanyte, Aerodactyl and others fossil types.
On top of making rock/fossil Pokemon more common, Pokestops will also dish out more items and buddy Pokemon will gain candy at a faster rate. The event will run from May 18 at 1 pm PT until May 25 at 1 pm. In celebration of adventure, players who log in during the event will receive an exclusive clothing item: an Adventurers Hat. “Fitting” I know. Yes, that was a pun.
Although Pokemon Go has been rather stale lately, Niantic will most likely be putting out more and more events as incentive to get back out catching Pokemon during the summer. After all, it’s not always worth it freezing your hands over Pokemon, unless they’re really rare. In all seriousness, hopefully this event marks the first of many more events. Going outside to play video games isn’t a popular activity and Niantic really has to make it worth our while to sweat for the sake of Pokemon Go.
Onix and Sudowoodo will also be more common throughout the week of the event.
