There’s been a bit of drama lately between Niantic Labs and Apple. It hasn’t been much, but it mostly centers on Pokemon GO’s involvement with the Apple Watch. Apple-centric sources report that there are at least delays in supporting the app. Meanwhile, Niantic Labs insists that Apple Watch functionality is definitely still coming to the watch. Now, a new rumor has surfaced to try and shine light on the issue. It seems Niantic may be jumping into the wearable business themselves.

The rumor comes from a report posted by 9to5Mac. The report and accompanying image shows a wearable device supporting Niantic’s Ingress app. It goes further to describe that Niantic Labs is working with the creators of the Nex Band in the development of the new device.

As of now, this is all still considered an unconfirmed rumor. We can’t know for sure whether or not this is true until Niantic comes out themselves and confirms it. 9to5Mac seems to believe that the official announcement for the device will come out next month. So regardless of which side of the fence you are, it looks like we’ll find out the truth sooner rather than later.
