Pikachu won’t be alone this thanksgiving. At least his Macy parade float won’t be. This November 25, the popular Pokémon front-mouse will be accompanied by Eevee in a sleigh, a first for the event.
This will be the first time ever that Pikachu isn’t the only pokemon in the parade. Since the franchise’s first inclusion in 2001, there have only been a total of 3 different parade floats, each one solely of Pikachu.
According to The Pokemon Company’s international vice president of marketing Colin Palmer, the decision to add Eevee was to celebrate the franchise’s 25 year anniversary.
“Pikachu remains an icon of the brand. Its annual appearance in the Macy’s Parade has been delighting fans and families for decades. The introduction of Eevee, known for its unique Evolution abilities, is the perfect Pokemon friend to join Pikachu and represent the brand as we look to the future and all of the fun and adventures which are yet to come.”
Nintendo have been going hard this last year, celebrating the last 25 years since their first game launched. They held live concerts earlier in the year, featuring big-name artists like Katy Perry and Post Malone.
We likely won’t see any surprise events in Pokemon GO to celebrate this, though. October is already full to the brim with events, there’s no room for any more.
