What Can We Expect From a Valentine’s Day Event in PGO?

There’s no doubt that Pokemon GO is going to have some kind of Valentine’s Day event. Every event the game has hosted in the past has been surprisingly successful. Whether it was an increase of ghosts and candy or a simple influx of incubators, Niantic Labs has seen increased daily users during each one. So the question isn’t whether or not they’ll have a Valentine event in February. Instead, it’s “what will they do for their Valentine event?”

Jigglypuff - Valentine's Day

That’s a good start.

Sure, they could give us some extra candy. What’s Valentine’s Day without the sweet stuff? More than that, though, there is an obvious direction Niantic is likely headed. It’s true that the world of Pokemon is full of extremely cute and cuddly creatures. However, only a handful really qualify as Valentine material. I’m talking about fairy type Pokemon.

fairy godmothers - Valentine's Day

Not that kind of fairy!

In Pokemon GO, only four globally available Pokemon have the “fairy” type. They are Clefairy and Jigglypuff along with their evolved forms: Clefable and Wigglytuff respectively. The other Pokemon is Mr. Mime, but that Pokemon is only available in Europe.

I predict we can all expect to see a lot of those Pokemon during the Valentine’s Day event. There could likely be more. Keep in mind, more than just ghosts were used during the Halloween event. But the only way we can be sure is to wait and see.
