We’ve already mentioned that Niantic talked about a new update to spice up capture rates. It put an end to the simple system where more rare and powerful Pokemon were harder to catch. Players would find it easier to catch Pokemon based on what badges they have. Well, that update has recently started rolling out. But more importantly, it seems to be noticeable. Very noticeable.

Since the update rolled out, players have been reporting easier capture rates. Given, the biggest change is with the most common Pokemon. Most players have caught a countless number of Pidgeys and Rattatas, so those are going to be much easier to catch now. Others may not be so easy. Fire type Pokemon aren’t quite as common as a lot of the others, so those may not be much easier. The same could be said of dragons to an extent. But at the very least, there should be fewer occasions where a low level Rattata keeps breaking out of our Pokeballs.
