Before now, Magikarp was the sole shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go, but it seems as though a new shiny has made its way into the game over the weekend. After the Pikachu Outbreak Event in Japan, players outside of the country have been sharing their own shiny Pikachu catches, which confirms that it’s definitely not a time/regional exclusive.
Shiny Pikachu, like shiny Magikarp, has a slight color difference, with sparkles around the page indicating its rarity. If Shiny Pikachu is anything like Magikarp, his color will carry on into his next evolution. Other than these differences, shiny Pikachu and regular Pikachu are virtually the same, but if you’re a collector, then Shiny Pikachu is a very rare find.
Although Mewtwo is making its way into Pokemon Go in the coming weeks, don’t let him overshadow this new shiny. After all, Pikachu may not be as powerful, but he’s favorited in the hearts and minds of fans around the world. Plus he’s way cuter.
