We all remember when Pokemon GO first launched. It was pretty much an epidemic. Gamers and non-gamers alike joined together and caught every Pokemon in sight. But, like all good things, that popularity evened out to a healthy, consistent player base. But all this talk about adding in Pokemon from Generation 2 brings up an interesting question. Will the extra 100 Pokemon potentially bring another popularity spike to Pokemon GO?
The idea is far from guaranteed, but it is possible. The Halloween event saw a decent jump in popularity while it was out. That surely shows that a large chunk of that original player base is still interested in playing. From that, there’s no reason that an update adding 100 Pokemon wouldn’t give an even bigger boost.
Sure, I doubt we’ll see numbers even close to the launch. That really was an unprecedented time. However, I would bet that you’ll see a few more phones playing Pokemon GO after the update hits. Even if it’s only for a month or so.
